My ipod touch is damaged?

a baby got hold of it and put it in his mouth. i left it on and started messing w/ it. It doesn't work w/ iTunes & the home on (The one in the middle @ the bottom) doesn't work. I tried submerging it in rice 4 five days!!! i really don't wanna pay $200 to fix it. Any other rips for fixing it?
