I'm confused by McCain's policies, republicans explain?

We are losing hundreds of thousands of jobs, and yet John McCain is talking about vetoing any bill with earmarks. Not all earmarks are good but they do create jobs. Workers are needed to complete those projects. He keeps saying we are spending 700 billion dollars a year for foreign oil yet instead of wanting to re-fit America to use alternative energy (which will create millions of jobs) He wants to continue with oil. It seems to me that John McCain has no plan, am I wrong? If yes please explain.
