Apple Pie with cheese.?

I remember my grandfather always eating his apple pie with sharp cheddar cheese on it, and I know there is a name for it, and we have tried to come up with what its called without success. I know apple pie with ice cream is pie ala mode, but there is also a name for apple pie with cheese. I always thought it was gross, when Grandpa would eat it, but I di try it today, just for the heck of it, and it is good. Not something I will always do, but for a change of pace, it really didn't taste bad. First one to answer correctly gets the points. Thanks in advance.
